Info for u all:

Aftermarket intakes help the engine inhale plenty of fresh, cold air. Once that air is mixed with fuel and exploded in the engine, it has to go out the exhaust system. Just as with us carbon-based types, smooth exhaling is vitally important to your engine.

A typical stock exhaust system is made up of the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, muffler, and various lengths of piping to connect them all. The problem with stock exhausts is that they're designed for just about everything except performance: the good folks at the car companies design their exhaust systems to conform to be as quiet, environmentally friendly, and inexpensive as possible. While I'm all for peace and quiet and blue skies and all that, there's nothing I like more than the happy sound of a kickin' exhaust zooming its way down the highway, you feel me?

When it comes to performance exhaust, we want big pipes with as few restrictions as possible in order to avoid backpressure. Think of blowing hard through a drinking straw versus through a 2" pipe -- big difference! Backpressure robs your engine of power because instead of directing energy at the crankshaft, your engine has to push the exhaust out under pressure. The greater the pressure, the greater the power loss. Some backpressure is inevitable, but there's a lot you can do to a stock exhaust system to minimize it. Today, we're gonna take a look at replacing the exhaust manifold with an aftermarket header.

Headers are purely performance-based upgrades. Not only are their pipes bigger than stock, but each cylinder gets its own specially tuned pipe. Tuned pipes? Yep! The lengths, curves, and inside diameters of header pipes are specially designed to follow the rythym of your engine's exhaust valves so that every time a cylinder expels air, an empty header pipe awaits. So, there's very little backpressure for the pistons to work against.

there are a lot of different exhaust headers for sale. They boil down to two main types -- stainless steel and ceramic-coated. Stainless steel headers provide a smooth surface for the quickest possible airflow. They usually are shiny when new, but don't expect that to last! Ceramic-coated headers are usually stainless steel or cast-iron headers that have been coated with a heat-resistant coating that keeps your engine bay a bit cooler. You'll also notice that most headers have a design in which the four exhaust pipes join into two bigger pipes, and then the two join into one final pipe that connects to the rest of your exhaust system. This "4-2-1" design is pretty standard, and most of these headers will be street-legal. Most headers that have a single "4 into 1" collector are designed for full-on racing and are likely not emission-legal.

Like the exhaust manifold, the header bolts right up to the engine block using the same bolts. If your exhaust bolts are really rusted, you might want to find replacements for them at an auto parts dealer or hardware store--headers almost never come with their own bolts. While you're at the auto parts store, you should also be sure to pick up a new exhaust gasket.

You can expect to see a gain of about 3 to 4 horsepower right out of the box. Of course, if you replace the full exhaust system, you can expect another 2 to 4 horsepower (not to mention that sweet growl we all love).

An exhaust header is another one of those simple, do-it-yourself ways to bolt on horsepower. Once you've helped your engine breathe more freely, you'll be eager to take a look at other aftermarket mods.

thanxx shamiin for open this thread...there 2 kind of extractor in da marker which is 4-1 & 4-2-1..the different 4-1 best for pickup & 4-2-1 best for top speed both are test for MT version..for me 4-1 best for town ride now im waiting my custom fullset 4-1 (dual tips) version maybe tomorrow will install it.. bounce

4 steel material da coz is rm150.

ill try tarik from melaka-KL and the result i had is 170 km/j.
maybe pero2 dah cutt of this machine kot.
everything i done only exhaust system n exhaust but the air filter and plug still original standard.

Did you take pix of the whole installation process? If not, mind to share pix of your new system? I can;t make up my mind, eager to enjoy that VROOOOMMM sound, but scare of JPJ, kena so many times already b4 this.... aihhh.... Ohh, what about the performance? I agree w u on the town driving part. Since i drive mostly in town area..... 4-2-1 really gives you higher top speed, but not as practical as better drivability, in terms of going up slopes, over-taking in slower traffic...etc...

performance and pickup ok...and the sound not so bingit..just ok ajer...instalation oh i dont take any pic..but just looking at that..

Remove oem extractor...and fix 4-1 extractor , center box,,,and double tail..thats all...in just a minute ...

I've been hearing various comments frm different technitian, they all say that stainless steel extractor looks good when new, but after a while, it'll turn rusty & starts to look real ugly, plus it creates lotsa heat but one good thing is the inner tube is much smoother, as for coated type, it looks dull & ugly but has less heat problem, downside is the inner tube is not as smooth, thus, airflow is affected.

So, my question is: which type of material gives the best performance? We have very limited choices here in KCH, local workshops' self made extractor looks un-convincing, only imported brand frm W Msia is Hotbits, wonder if any workshop in W Msia is willing to deal online?

Ok ...Ive been in kuching for about many years from 1999-2006. And if we want to do any modification we just came and buy things from W.Malaysia...

Regarding to your problem i suggest go for Hotbits, because i already use that and well known about thier performance..if u use self made sometime it not give good setting.....Hotbits already tested and R&D.


Or u also can use Powerzone extractor if got in sarawak market...they just use normal metal....

It's good to know someone frm W.M who knows KCH well. I'm sure you know how far behind we are here, comparing to W.M, in terms of the development of car-mod industry, sigh.........

Maybe I'll stop by early next year to do some parts hunting, what is your recommended place? I'm thinking of getting a full set Hotbits which includes extractor, cat-back system and maybe a cold air intake of some major brand.

BTW, do you know any Vivi owner who has upgraded their brake system to those big 4 pot Brembos? Can that person share his knowledge and experience? I'd be most greatfull...

nak tanya sapa2 yg pakar dalm setting exhaust kreta tolong komen setting tok

myvi 1.0 manual

1) header 3-1 steel
2) piping ori 1.3 in diaemeter
3) tambah bullet 3 (besar, sederhana n kecik)
4) split y double double tip

semua skali rm800 siap upah pasang...

mun rasa-rasa ada setting lain lebih bagus n murah tolong suggest...

aku nak tambah power pickup, top speed tp maseh save minyak

below was my initial setting b4 the towkey advice me to his setting

1) header 3-1 steel
2) piping tukar 1.6 in diaemeter
3) pakai bullet besar bujur or bulat
4) split y double double tip

ambil galah tolong jolok lok
