| RPM is rotation per minutes... Some people refer its as Tachometer... Drive section of ur engine which is crankshaft is measured to rotation per minutes, ur engine increases in RPM until it get's to maximum RPM as u accelerate, this maximum limit is called the red line as for myvi 7-8, this is the limit where u can rev ur engine safely, after that you need to shift to a larger gear ratio.... then repeat the process.....
no 3 should be ok.... when idle rpm should be at 0.7 - 0.8 wihtout aircond...

| second tachometer with blinking light u mean? that one for shifting gear at a certain RPM with help of blinking light.. hahaha... that one need to set when to blinking, blinking as a marking to shift gear at a right time of speed range for engine produces maximum torque
this one im not too sure... better ask Ezd... his previous satria full with meter.....

do we actually need to rev the engine till the redline every day? if not how often? I never rev my car until redline except when driving on the road.

| ehmm i warm up my car every day early morning at least 5 min coming up means before this the RPM number just at number 2 but not always at number 3. That make me wonder why... i always drive about 80/90 kmj xcept going back my hometown 100/110 kmj does't effect the RPM?
RPM n engine what is the relationship ek?

| rev to 8... try if u really want to know... anyway wani did u change ur rim??
FYI, Shift gears between 2 and 2.5 RPM for optimal engine efficiency. Allowing the RPM to go up to 3 RPM or higher increases speed but makes the engine work harder, which reduces fuel economy.
If u rev to 8, its mean u over-revving the engine which might causes damages and may cause oil to leak onto a hot exhaust causing a fire.

r u drifter??hehehe... I mean, on the highway, sometimes when i'm trying to overtake other vehicles the RPM meter went very high almost to the redline, especially when I press the OD button. FYI I'm using auto transmission. - shamiin2 wrote:

The higher the RPM meter goes will cost more fuel consumption, correct? to save petrol just drive below 90km/j (RPM below 3)
